A 56 year old man of Kalabu has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Laqere yesterday afternoon.
Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed the 27 year old driver is in police custody, and police are awaiting the post mortem report before charges if any would be laid.
The 56 year old man was crossing the road when he was hit by the private car. He was rushed to the CWM hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, a 14 year old school student is in critical condition at the CWM hospital after she was hit by a vehicle near the LDS school yesterday afternoon.
She was crossing the road when the vehicle struck her. She was dragged more than 15 metres from the scene. The driver then fled the scene.
Police are appealing for information about the driver.
