A 42 year old man charged with causing death by dangerous driving and allegedly driving under the influence of liquor will appear in a special court sitting in the Nadi Magistrates Court this morning.
28 year old, Jolame Leakali, who was a staff of Denarau Island Resort was crossing at a bend in Nawaka when he was hit by the driver, who is alleged to have been drunk at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, yesterday police arrested and charged five men who were drinking and driving. They have been bailed to appear court at a later date.
The national death toll is now 23 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
