Man Charged with Attempted Murder Appears in Court
Poate Yacarava Senileda is alleged to have stabbed a 52 year old expatriate of New Zealand earlier this week. Senileda's plea has been deferred as he requested to be represented a legal counsel before charges are read to him. He is to appear in court on 21st July.
The victim was relaxing at a home when the suspect went to visit him and it is alleged that an argument broke between the two and the suspect allegedly stabbed him. The victim has been evacuated to New Zealand and is on a life support system.
Meanwhile, a man, charged with allegedly raping a woman, was today released on bail by the Suva Magistrate's Court.
Inoke Masau, who was charged with three counts of having unlawful carnal knowledge with a woman last Saturday, this afternoon appeared before Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was released on $500 bail with assurity of the same costs, told to report to the Nabua Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 6am and 6pm and also told not to interfere with witnesses.
The case is adjourned to August 7th. It is alleged that Masau forced the victim into a taxi from outside a nightclub and took her to Toorak where he raped her three times.
