Man Charged Over Samabula Death
Taniela Nautavado who is alleged to have caused the death of Mitieli Maravou last Saturday had another pending case since 2005 and was sentenced today for three months.
The court has referred the case to high court as it is a serious matter which will be called on the 14th of next month.
Maravou's body was found inside a billiard shop in Fulaga street.
Meanwhile, the Chairman for Crime Stoppers Fiji says alcohol sold through black markets contributes immensely towards the increase in violent crimes.
James Dutta says two black market shops situated at the entrance of Fulaga street are still operating after being raided and closed by Police a few weeks earlier.
Dutta has suggested Police to observe these two outlets and once liqour is sold outside trading hours, the shop keepers must be arrested and charged.
He has also suggested that it is laws are changed so that instead of fines, mandotary prison terms are imposed to deter these shop keepers from breaking the law.
