Man Appears in Court for Alleged Theft from PM’s Office
It is alleged that Suguturaga of Mead Road stole a laptop computer, a USB cable, a Motorola phone and a webcam valued at $4,100, all belonging to Commodore Frank Bainimarama, on July 7th.
Suguturaga pleaded not guilty to the charges upon instructions from his lawyer Tevita Fa.
The court was informed that Suguturaga also pleaded not guilty to separate charges of larceny, forgery and obtaining items on false pretences.
It is alleged that Suguturaga on June 15th broke into the Fiji School of Medicine and stole a wallet containing visa and master cards belonging to Seramaia Bale. He then allegedly used the master card at SOGOS Fiji to try and purchase clothing and signed his name as Seramaia Bale.
It was also highlighted by Suva Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan that the accused currently has 5 bench warrants pending against him.
Police prosecutor Inspector Epeli Talekubu strongly objected to bail. He said Suguturaga had 13 pending files against him for similar crimes committed around Fiji.
Bail was not considered and he has been remanded in custody until July 30th for mention.
