Man Appears for Alleged Murder
The state filed and served information and disclosures in court today and the accused was given time to apply for legal aid after which the information will be put to Nausu.
Nausu applied for a bail however this was oppose as he is currently serving a suspended sentence for act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Judge Justice Nazhat Shameem allowed for the state to file affidavit and the matter has been adjourned till 20th May.
He has been remanded in custody.
It is alleged that Naususu caused the death of Lata after he threw a stone at her in Colo-i-Suva while they were delivering bread in the area a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile, a 28 year old soccer rep appeared in Suva Magistrate court today charged with 3 counts of assault, unlawful use of motor vehicle and robbery.
It is alleged that on 15th December last year, Cama Qerewaqa assaulted a 47 year old Semi Bucirakia, unlawfully used his vehicle and stole $150 dollars cash which was inside the vehicle.
The complainant, Bucirakia was returning from a supermarket and was on his way home when he saw two youths allegedly trying to rob another youth.
He pulled his car to assist the youth but was later assaulted by Cama and 6 other youths. Cama also drove away with the complainant’s car and caused damages of $4000 and walked away with $150 cash.
Qerewaqa pleaded guilty to the first two counts and the complainant has asked to withdraw the third count.
The case has been adjourned till 30th June.
