High Court Judge Justice Daniel Gounder has acquitted 19 year old Jeke Vakararawa of a charge of manslaughter this morning.
Vakararawa was charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of robbery with violence.
All three assessors on the case found him guilty on the charge of robbery with violence but two of the three found him not guilty on the manslaughter charge.
Judge Gounder while delivering his verdict said he agrees with the majority decision of the assessors and aquitted Vakararawa off manslaughter.
Both counsels will this afternoon make submissions on setencing on the count of robbery with violence.
Vakararawa and others broke into a home in Lami in July 2004 and in the process a 71 year old occupant was assaulted. The victim died a few days later in hospital due to injuries sustained.
