Suva Magistrates Court today acquitted a man who was charged with two counts of cultivating and being in possession of marijuana plants.

Magistrate, Josaia Waqaivolavola while delivering his judgment said Prosecution had failed to prove both counts of charges laid on Sachin Vikash Ram, by not tendering into the evidence the analyst certification of expert opinion.

Magistrate Waqaivolavola said it cannot be established that it was in fact marijuana plants that Ram admitted to being in possession off in his caution interview statement without the expert certificate.

Police had charged Ram in 2006 for allegedly planting marijuana plants at his home in Samabula.
