Malasebe Post Mortem Reports Revealed
Dr Prashant said most of the multiple injuries were caused by a sharp object or instrument or a hard kick. As he outlined the injury on Malasebe's wrist Dr Prashant said that this injury was the result of tight handcuffs to the wrist.
Dr Prashant yesterday used a word "falanga" in court which is the bruising of the soles as a result of a forceful hit which is also found on the hands and the hips.
Meanwhile the Pathologist highlighted his opinion about cases of Police Custody deaths. He said they are due to the torture techniques used by the Police and injuries inflicted on the body when the person is still alive. State prosecutor, Wilisoni Kurusaqila asked the Pathologist to explain about the pain associated with the multiple injuries. Dr Prashant said the pain can be qualified as moderate, severe and extreme.
The case is adjourned to 9.30am Monday. It is alleged that Malasebe died in police custody at Valelevu. Eight police officers are charged in relation to the alleged murder.
