Fiji athletics team's Makelesi Bulikiobo recorded one of the fastest times in the 400 meters heats today and qualified for tomorrow's final.

Bulikiobo clocked 56.11 seconds, well ahead of her opponents. Also through to the final in the women’s division are Torika Odro and Paulini Korowaqa.

In the men’s division, Iliesa Namosimalua is favourite to win gold in the 400 meters after he won his race today. Namosimalua came first in his heat in a time of 47.66 seconds.

Niko Verekauta and Gabrieli Waqa-vanua will also feature in the 400 meters finals.

It is also good news for Harold Nair, who came first in the men's 110 meters Octathlon event and looks good to win a medal.

Meanwhile Team Fiji athletics manager Joe Rodan said they are expected to win at least 3 gold medals later this afternoon.
