The SDL party insists that audited report into interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama's leave pay must be made public by the Auditor General Eroni Vatuloka on its completion next week.

SDL Acting National Director Ted Young said it will be a mockery of the rule of transparency and accountability if the report is released only to the interim Finance Minister who also happened to be the subject of the investigation.

He said SDL calls on the Auditor General to do the right thing and release the report to the taxpayers and Vatuloka must not use the excuse that there is no parliament.

He said parliament represents the people of Fiji and the Auditor General must report directly to the people of Fiji under the current circumstances.

It was revealed earlier that Commodore Bainimarama was paid an estimated $184,000 as leave pay dating back to 1978.
