National soccer coach Claudio Canosa has informed the Fiji Football Association that he will resign from his post if changes are not made to the 35-member national soccer squad.
This has been confirmed by Fiji FA Acting President Anil Sharma who said Canosa is not happy with the Board of Control’s decision to make changes to the squad list given by him.
Sharma said Canosa informed Fiji FA chief executive Bob Kumar about going to Australia after the Vodafone Fiji FACT and will be back in the country after the date for the international match with the Solomon Islands is confirmed.
He added that if Canosa does not come back, they have two capable coaches, Bal Sanju Reddy and Kamal Swamy, who will guide the team.
Meanwhile, the Fiji FA Board of Control meeting will take place soon to decide on the action to be taken against Canosa for publicly criticizing the selection of the 35-member squad for the Pacific Games and three international matches.
Canosa said he did not choose some players that were announced after the Fiji FACT final.
He said he had no idea about the changes and the way some senior officials handled the selection was unprofessional.
We are trying to get further comments from Canosa after Anil Sharma’s comments about Canosa’s intention to resign if changes are not made to the soccer squad.
