The Citizen Constitutional Forum said the Interim Prime Minister needs to relay his commitment on elections at the Pacific Islands Forum's Special Meeting on Fiji.

Director CCF Reverend Akuila Yabaki said the meeting will be held at Port Moresby this month and the regional organizations can play an instrumental role in securing funds from international sources for elections.

Reverend Yabaki welcomes the possibility of having general election in Fiji in December after a Chief from Serua had said that Commodore Frank Bainimarama informed them that elections could be held by December this year.

He said under the Commonwealth's Milbrook Action Programme on the Harare Declaration, a country where a democratically elected government has been removed must have elections within two years of the event, to show a genuine commitment to return to democracy.
