75 percent of deaths in the pacific are due to non communicable diseases.
This is according to World Health Organisations Technical Officer for Food and Nutrition and Physical Activity Dr Temo Waqanivalu while speaking at the Pacific NCD Forum 2010 underway in Nadi.
Waqanivalu said that this is evident in health ministry records in the pacific.
The meeting will focus on building capacity in monitoring and evaluation of NCD interventions and to provide an opportunity for network building, information sharing and collaboration within Pacific Island Countries.
