A major water cut to affect close to 95,000 consumers in the Suva area will begin this afternoon.

Water Authority of Fiji Chief Executive Officer Opetaia Ravai said this water cut is expected to last the next 24 to 48 hours.

Ravai said the water cut is due to repairs that need to be carried out, following a major leak in the two supply pipes, to the Tamavua and Waila treatment plants.

Ravai also revealed the areas that will be affected by this water cuts.

The areas to be affected are Flagstaff, Toorak, Domain, Lami, Upper Tamavua area, Namadi Heights, Upper Tacirua, Sakoca, Veisari, Delainavesi, Tamavuiwai, lower Wailoku area, Ratu Sukuna Road, Lami/Qauia, Uduya Point, Samoan Settlement, Panaromic View, Ben Naiveli Hill down to Togalevu Naval Base, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Muanikau, Baker, Waimanu Road, Robertson Road and nearby areas.


Ravai added that at the Waila reservoir the water is also at a critical level.

The Water Authority of Fiji ensures that there will be adequate supply for major infrastructures including the Hospital and Schools.

The Water Authority is working on having the leak repaired by tonight.

Meanwhile five water trucks will be carting 25,000 liters of water to the affected areas.
