Major roads now open
Ministry spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said they have just received word from their centres around the country and reveals that for the North and in outer islands, all roads have been cleared and opened, however in the Viti Levu they are still working to clear some roads and this sees only one lane open in certain areas.
Only a portion of the Kings Road from Suva to Nausori is open and those motorists travelling along the Drekeinakelo and Delainamasikama Road, one lane has been opened.
Meanwhile, for the other portion of the Kings Road from Korovou to Rakiraki Town, it is closed until further notice.
The Queens Road right up to Lautoka has been opened however when approaching Navua, only one lane is open as PWD workers are trying to clear a fallen Baka tree.
In Suva, the Reservoir road and Edinburgh Drive are now open to all traffic.
Meanwhile, Waqainabete added that the Naqali area is now accessible as the Sawani-Serea road has been opened with the Bridge now safe to cross.
The roads in Nadroga, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Nadi, Rakiraki and Tavua that were all affected by Tropical Cyclone Mick have been cleared and opened to traffic.
The only roads closed to traffic at this stage are the ones in the Nausori highlands.
