Major preparations are underway in Labasa as after a long 14 years a major soccer tournament, the Vodafone Fiji FACT, will be played at Subrail Park next weekend.
There is also good news for soccer teams, as Subrail Park’s soccer pitch will be extended by five metres in length and four metres in width.
The ground meets the minimum FIFA size requirement and some teams have complained over the years about the size of the pitch.
The ground will now be 100m by 70m which is good the sport of soccer.
Fiji FA’s CEO Bob Kumar says the two goalposts have been shifted backwards and this will allow teams to display better football.
Suva will take on Lautoka at 1pm next Friday in the first group match, Dreketi will play Nadi at 3pm, Ba will face Rewa at 5.30pm while Labasa will play Nadroga at 7.30pm.
