The Managing Director of a Petroleum company whose service station was robbed this morning in Namaka, Nadi has raised concern that service station robberies have now become an everyday norm.
Vijay Kumar, the Managing Director of Total Service stations said business people are already struggling and this kind of events greatly affect their bottom line.
According to Kumar the profit margin for petroleum products is already two cents per litre and to make things worse, they are robbed a few times in a month.
A major manhunt is underway for five men who robbed the Total Service station in Namaka at around 9.30 this morning.
The 5 masked men came in a stolen car and robbed the clerk of more than $53,000 who was on his way to bank the money.
The money was the weekend's takings. The five came in a car, parked it in front of the vehicle that was supposed to take the clerk to the bank and smashed the glass of the vehicle before entering the service station office and emptying the safe.
The getaway vehicle is still missing, however police are following some strong leads.
