A group of eight masked men armed with pinch bars and cane knives entered Praveens Kava shop and stole cash and assorted items worth thousands of dollars.
When the eight were still inside the shop, police were informed.
A group of officers from the Ready Action Unit arrived at the scene minutes later and were confronted by the eight robbers.
The robbers threw stones and others items at the police officers.
The police vehicle sustained damages.
Three robbers were arrested while five others fled the scene.
Meanwhile, police are still looking for four men who were involved in a daylight robbery at the New World Supermarket Narere branch yesterday morning where more than $29,000 cash was stolen.
The four stoned the employees of New World when they were on their way to the bank.
The robbers fled in a Honda CRV registration EZ 172 which was stolen hours before the robbery from Moti street.
The four threatened a couple and stole items worth $15,000 and drove away in their family vehicle.
Robbers then fitted a fake number plate registration EZ 294, then used it as a getaway vehicle.
