The Nadi Weather Office said major flooding is expected in some areas in the Central and Eastern Division today going into tonight as heavy rain will continue for the next 24 hours in the Eastern half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

The centre of tropical depression was located 100 kilometres North North East of Suva at midday today. 

It is slow moving. 

Associated cloud and active rain bands continue to affect most parts of the group.

The tropical depression is currently sitting between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.


Since 9am yesterday, Laucala Bay received 134.5mm of rainfall, Navua received 105.0mm, Matuku received 294.5mm and Nausori received 176.0mm of rainfall.

Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said people need to monitor the heavy rain and take precautions.

The river levels are currently being monitored.


The next high tide is at 5pm today.
