A number of loop holes, weakness in revenue collection measures and issues regarding re-engagement of terminated staff members are some of the major concerns highlighted in the internal audit conducted into the Land Transport Authority.
Transport Ministry Spokesperson Iliesa Sokia confirmed to Fijivillage that urgent steps are being taken to ensure the issues raised in the report are rectified as soon as possible.
Following a directive by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama that LTA is to change its mind-set from thinking that it is a money making machine, Sokia said the LTA board has been given time to make the appropriate changes.
Meanwhile, Sokia also confirmed that LTA CEO Etuate Koroi remains on leave at this stage as investigations are still underway against him relation to matters pertaining to the LTA operations.
Koroi was sent on leave earlier this year to allow for the independent audit to be conducted into the revenue collection mechanisms with the LTA.
