Mai TV has secured the rights to show the matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Mai TV secured the rights after edging out larger regional and local broadcasters in a bid which began in November last year.

Mai TV has been granted the rights to sublicense and broadcast several FIFA events in Fiji.

These include FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti this December, the Under 17 World Cup, the Under 17 Women’s World Cup, the Under 20 Women’s World Cup and the largest event on earth, the FIFA World Cup next June.

In a statement Mai TV said it was awarded the sublicense in Fiji for sole TV rights to FIFA TV content between December 2013 and July 2014 by the Pacific rights holder, Click Pacific Limited.

The Port Moresby based Click Pacific is the new entrant in PNG's Pay & FTA television market and secured the license for regional rights last month.
