The owner of Mai Life magazine is selling the magazine company due to cross-media ownership laws under the Media Industry Development Decree.

Publisher Alsa Limited has announced Mai Life's sale.

Owner and Publisher, Judith Ragg said due to her marriage to Mai TV's major shareholder, Richard Broadbridge, she is divesting her shares in Mai Life magazine to allow their family to own only one entity in Fiji's media.

Under the decree, any person or his close associate who has controlling shares in one media outlet in the country cannot own more than 5 percent of shares in another media outlet.

Only the state owned media outlet is exempt from this cross-media ownership law, meaning they can have controlling interest in more than one type of media outlet in the country.
