The case of 34-year-old bus driver Sanjay Naidu who is charged with raping a 12-year-old girl earlier this month, will be called in the Nasinu Magistrates Court on the 29th of this month.

Nasinu Magistrate Charles Ratakele was not available to hear the case today.

However Fijivillage has received confirmation that the police prosecution has filed a formal response objecting to bail for Naidu.

Magistrate Ratakele will deliver his bail ruling next Tuesday.

Police have confirmed that they have information that Sanjay Naidu allegedly raped the 12-year-old girl along Princes Road on the 12th of this month.

Investigators have clarified that they have received confirmation that the alleged offence took place while the driver was on his last trip and committed the offence along one of the bus stops along Princes road.

Police had earlier said that what is of great concern with this case is the allegation against the accused where he committed the act fully realizing the vulnerable state of the victim who had fallen asleep during the course of her journey.

The victim had boarded the bus from Nausori and had fallen asleep missing her stop.

It is alleged the bus driver did not attempt to wake the child up.
