Magistrate concerned over lawyers conduct
The trial for Amrita Singh, who is charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm started last week and continued yesterday, however Narayan failed to inform the court of her intentions to travel abroad.
Magistrate Muir said that Narayan was aware of today’s proceedings as yesterday’s session had to be adjourned when Narayan claimed to have a sore throat and was unable to proceed.
A lawyer who appeared on behalf of Narayan produced a letter stating that Narayan is flying out tomorrow as she has to be present to support a family member who is due to give birth
Magistrate Muir was out raged and stressed that Narayan is not a doctor and that she is not the one expecting the baby. After discussions with the Police Prosecutor Isikeli Raisuni the case has been adjourned till next Tuesday for the trial to proceed.
Meanwhile, Amrita Singh is charged for dangerous driving after she allegedly bumped a 13 yr old boy who was on a pedestrian crossing in Lami on the 6th of September 2007. The boy is still on crutches till date as his right leg was fractured in the accident.
