As the 14 provincial councils await the announcement of the 2010 National Budget, Macuata Provincial Council Chairman and Tui Macuata Ratu Aisea Katonivere said they are not asking the government on what they want in the budget.
He said they are working with the government on the Look North policy program over the last few months and hopes this will boost the economy and improve the infrastructure in the North.
Meanwhile, President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has challenged the 14 provincial councils to provide their annual financial reports for accountability and transparency.
He said some provincial councils has been ineffective over the years and people has lost faith in the council after allegations of mismanagement and that they are not doing the work they are supposed to do under the Fijian Affairs Act.
