Fijian born speedster Jone Macilai is expected to push for a starting spot in the Crusaders team for their opening match against the Rebels next month.

This comes after the Crusaders have confirmed that they are looking for someone to replace giant wing Nemani Nadolo.

Nadolo is contracted to the NEC Green Rockets and his currently on holiday in Brisbane but will soon rejoin his Japanese club to play in a second‑tier playoff series.

It appears that Nadolo who was Super Rugby's joint top‑scorer with the Waratahs' Israel Folau last season, will miss at least a couple of Super Rugby matches.

If Nadolo is unavailable then the opportunity arises for Johnny McNicholl, Jone Macilai and Nafi Tuitavake to prove themselves for selection.

The Crusaders' first match is against the Rebels in Christchurch on February 13th, followed by fixtures against the Highlanders and the Chiefs.
