MSG meeting in Suva
The meeting includes the ministers from the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
It is believed that discussions are being held on the decision taken by the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Cairns earlier this month which decided that Fiji will not be directly included in talks on the PACER Plus.
The MSG leaders had earlier thrown their support behind Fiji after their meeting in Vanuatu, prior to the Leaders Forum in Cairns and they are expected to reiterate their calls that Fiji be fully engaged in any regional trade negotiations.
Government spokesperson Permanent secretary for Information Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed that a press conference is expected to be called this afternoon.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama earlier confirmed to Fijivillage that Fiji will withdraw from both PICTA and PACER Plus following the decision of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders.
