Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School became the first school in the country to receive earthquake evacuation drill equipment funded by Japanese based United Nations Centre for Regional Development.

Principal DISMAC Officer Patiliai Dobui said a study programme was carried out in schools in the country on how equipped they were for an earthquake.

Dobui said Mahatma Gandhi was one of the schools that followed the programme and the equipment given to them will assist them in their evacuation exercise and drills to prepare for any natural disaster.
