A teacher of Marist Brothers High school pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm before Suva Magistrate Amani Rokotiniviti this morning.

The court heard that on 21st April this year, Fesaitu Mario assaulted a form 6 student who left the classroom before the final bell of the day rang.

Mario approached the student to ask him as to why he left the classroom so early however the student failed to respond to the question.

He then threw punches on the student which landed on his chest and stomach.

Mario asked for forgiveness from the court. Magistrate Rokotiniviti then warned him that assaulting children is unacceptable but considering his good behaviour and his guilty plea, the court ordered that he should be discharged unconditionally and not to re-offend for the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay $100 court cost.
