Suva Zone 2 boys division champions - Marist Brothers High School, have rated defending Coca Cola Lights Games champion Suva Grammar School as the favorites for this year's games.
After seeking divine intervention at their school Mass last night where the Marist squad came together as one before the Games get underway tomorrow, manager Fesaitu Mario has rated the Grammarian Lions to as the number 1 contender for the boys title although they finished in second place in the Zone meet.
Fesaitu confirmed that the calculator is already out in the Red Fire camp as they look at ways to topple Grammar and the picture is clear that for Marist to win, other schools will have to edge Grammar on the tracks.
Meanwhile, Suva Grammar School which has placed a media ban as far as there preparation is concerned, must do well on the tracks to retain the boys division title as they do not have enough medal prospects in the field events.
They have high hopes in the Inter-boys 400 metres with Eroni Cagi, but it may not come that easy as he will be up against Natabua's Isoa Me.
Suva Grammar, who won the gold in the Senior Boys 200m final last year, won't have any athletes in this year's event but seems to be confident of retaining their titles in the Sub Junior and Junior boys 400m and also in the junior Boys 4x100m and Inter Boys 4x100m.
This year's Coca Cola Light Games is expected to be a close finish like last year and major upsets are expected.
The Coca Cola Light Games gets underway tomorrow morning at the National Sports Stadium.
