The All Item Consumer Price Index for last month registered a decrease of 0.2 percent over September 2009.

Lower prices were recorded for dalo, cassava, potato, bele, garlic, split peas, fresh fish, okra, local tomatoes, cereals, mineral water, yaqona, dairy products and coffee. The prices went down by 0.6 percent.

Lower prices were also recorded for some alcoholic spirits and warm beer.

However higher prices were recorded for new vehicles, second-hand vehicles and service and parts, house paints, electrical appliances, jewelry, travel and sports goods.

The average annual inflation rate for the twelve months to October 2009 stands at 3.8 percent compared to the 12 month average Consumer Price Index for last year.

The month-on-comparable-month inflation rate compared with October 2008 stands at 6.3 percent.
