Low budget airlines do not mean tourists come into the country with less money to spend.
That is the sentiment of Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum talking about the visitor arrivals into the country as well as the introduction of budget airlines like Jet Star and Virgin Blue.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the introduction of these low cost airlines brings a new group of tourist to Fiji and this does not necessarily mean less money will be spent here.
According to the latest figures provided by the Tourism Minister, comparing statistics from March of 2009 to March of this year, arrivals have gone up by 29.4%.
Australia recorded an increase of 64.8%, New Zealand had 34.6% increase, United States of America had 18.8 percent increase with United Kingdom having 25.2% and South Korea a total of 21.5% increase in arrivals.
