A trough of low pressure lying over the Fiji group is intensifying and people living in flood-prone areas around the country are urged to take precaution as flooding in low lying areas is expected.

The Deputy Director of the Weather Office Alipate Waqaicelua confirms that more heavy rain is expected over the next 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole has also urged all the head teachers and principals to heed the weather warnings.

He says umbrellas, raincoats and warm clothes may be the order of the day and all school equipment must be safely stored away to avoid damages.

Bole has also raised concern on the latest drowning incidences and is calling on parents to closely monitor their children in bad weather conditions.
