A delegation made up of 52 men from the District of Lovoni in Ovalau presented their "matanigasau" to Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and the military at QEB last night.
The people represented six villages namely Lovoni, Vuniivisavu, Nasaumatua-i-colo, Nukutocia, Visoto, Nacobo and were led by the Turaga na Tui Wailevu Ratu Beranaitutu Rogoyawa.
Commodore Bainimarama said the people from the district had done a number of things that brought instability in 2000 and he is happy that they have realized that their actions were wrong and made the traditional approach.
Commodore Bainimarama also said that the three soldiers who lost their lives in the November 2000 mutiny made the ultimate sacrifice to bring peace to Fiji, and he hopes that people now understand that the country should never go back to the dark days of 2000.
Three loyal soldiers, Lance Corporal Simione Rawaileba, Private Seru Sirinavosa and Private Jonetani Veilawai who died in the November 2000 mutiny, were honored in a commemoration ceremony earlier today.
Their family members also attended the wreath laying ceremony at QEB.
