Loud music in vehicles liable for fines
This is the stand the LTA is taking as many drivers continue to disregard others on the road.
LTA Chief Executive Officer, Naisa Tuinaceva said drivers need to play music for their ears alone as under the Land Transport Regulation any driver who is found to be contravening this Act by playing their music at the highest volume will face a penalty of $25.
According to Tuinaceva, the loud music is termed as a distraction and is seen as a potential cause of road accidents.
Tuinaceva said any passenger or bystander who feels that the music from a vehicle is very loud, has the right to complain to the LTA.
Naisa said it is time that all motorists get their act together while on the road as those who disregard road rules are putting not only theirs but others lives at risk.
Meanwhile, with a lot of movement in the Central Eastern and Western region because of the Farebrother Challenge, LTA said they will be monitoring drivers to ensure that they follow the road rules.
The road death toll stands at 39 compared to 29 last year.
