There are certain symptoms of the disease Brucellosis to look out for if you have had contact with cattle in the Tailevu North areas of Wainivesi and Waimaro.
Principal Vet, Dr Robin Archari said the symptoms are similar to H1N1 adding one must see a doctor immediately for tests if they think they have it.
Archari said around 200 dairy farms in the Tailevu North area are being tested for the disease and they have been stopped from supplying raw milk directly to clients, while all cattle found with the disease will be slaughtered.
The Quarantine Department stresses that Rewa Dairy Products are safe for consumption as they are pasteurized which kills the bacteria which causes Brucellosis.
They also stress that people should not panic as they have the situation under control.
