Local teams are facing stiff competition in the Fiji Outrigger International currently underway at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi.

In the Under 19 boys division Tasaga Brothers from Suva took first place, with a Tutagi Ora from New Zealand coming in second with a team from Nadi third.

However in the girls division, Tuitagi Team 1 took top honours while Tutagi 2 came in Second with a nadi team coming in third.

In the Womens marathon, Kaiwai from Suva beat locals Nadi Bay to bag the first spot while Nadi Bay came in Second and Wasabi came in 3rd.

Wasabi, a team from North America cam in first in the Masters event with Suva coming in third.

At the moment, the mens Marathon is underway.

There are a total of eight local clubs taking part along with Savusavu Nakama Bay Canoe Club taking part for the first time.

The 2011 Fiji Outrigger International will be the biggest tournament in its 14 year history with teams from Australia, USA and New Zealand.
