A total of eight overseas based players have been roped in for the Fiji Warriors team trials ahead of the tour Australia later this month.
Team manger Semi Rogoyawa said that after the fitness tests yesterday, many of the players that flew in from abroad did not meet the criteria and as a result majority of the 30 member training squad is made up of local players.
He added that this is a bonus for those boys that were not chosen for the Northern Hemisphere tour last year.
Some prominent names vying for a spot to face the Melbourne Rebels and the Waratahs include Dan Rawaqa, Wise Vatuvoka, Setefano Somoca, Nemia Kenatale, Waqabaca Kotobalavu, Jonetani Ralulu, Samu Bola and Seveci Taka.
Yesterday a total of 12 players from New Zealand, Australia and Japan went through fitness tests however only a select few with the likes of Tevita Cavubati, Joshua Rauluni, Jekope Maiono, Navi Bolatagici, Anare Koliavu, Joeli Kotobalavu and Andrew Durutalo.
Meanwhile, a final trial will be held this afternoon where the 30 member squad will be trimmed down to the final 28 that will tour Australia.
