Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni said they believe there is a local demand for hard drugs such as cocaine.
Teleni told Village news that while they are liaising with relevant authorities to ascertain if the drug confiscated from a Mexican woman was being transmitted through Fiji, there is a possibility it was intended for the local market.
Meanwhile, Police confirm that the Mexican woman who was allegedly found in possession of 2kg's of cocaine and a Columbian national will be questioned again this morning.
Police also confirm that it has been established that the drugs were not manufactured locally as investigations continue.
