Local company now producing biodiesel
The new product which is yet to be launched by Biodiesel Group Fiji Limited will also give a lot of relief to Fiji's copra industry as coconut oil is being used to produce the biodiesel.
Managing director for Blue Gas Fiji Limited Ajay Punja said they have embarked on a project which will have a positive impact on various industries in Fiji.
Punja confirmed more than 300 vehicles have started to use the biodiesel and they are expected to expand their operations soon.
The biodiesel currently costs $1.72 a liter.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama along with other ministers went on a tour of Biodiesel Group Fiji Limited’s factory in Lami this morning where the chairman for the Biodiesel Group Hari Punja explained to the guests how the factory operates.
