The Fiji Local Government Association is currently meeting in Nadi to discuss the Interim Cabinet's decision for all the councilors’ terms to expire at the end of next month.

All the town and city councils have confirmed receiving a letter from the Interim Government informing them that before 31st January next year, all the councilors are to hand in their Council mobile phones, motor vehicles, computers and other items to their town clerks and chief executive officers who will be looking after Council affairs.

The councilors have been ordered not to conduct any further meetings of their Councils and not to commit to any further projects.

This is all in relation to the Interim Government's decision to review the Local Government Act.

The Association meeting is expected to finish after lunch today.
