Lives at risk after landslip
One of the residents told Fijivillage that they heard the landslide at 6 o'clock this morning, washing away a wooden walkway which ended on the roof of a house.
They said they are not sure whether they should move out from there as a precautionary measure as their homes are situated at the bottom of the slope.
When contacted by Fijivillage, the Roads Department said they are not aware of the incident and engineers will be sent to assess the situation.
Meanwhile, flood waters continue to rise at the Naqali bridge as heavy rain continues in the Naitasiri highlands.
Divisional Roads Engineer Central Eastern Atunaisa Nayago is calling on motorists to take precautions as the water level has risen about a meter over the last hour.
He confirmed that the crossings at Waikavika and Waisomo road from Naqali are closed to traffic as the approaches have been washed away.
In Nausori, the Vuci South, Waituri and Waila feeder roads are flooded and closed to light traffic at the moment.
There is a landslide along Namara road and the road is closed to all traffic at this stage.
There is also a landslide along the Queens highway at Veisari near Namukalau settlement but the highway remains open to traffic as the PWD clears the debris from the road.
