Interim Prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama met with Divisional Water Engineer Central/Eastern Samuela Tubui and other engineers at Wailoku Tamavua Treatment plant as part of a normal visit, on the first day of the Fiji Island Council of Trade Union Strike.

Meanwhile, Tubui confirms that only 10 water department employees are on strike whereas others are performing their duties as per usual.

The officials are still gathering information on the number of workers in Water/Sewerage and Roads Department in Central/Eastern Division on strike from this morning.

Meanwhile, most unestablished workers of the Water Department in the Western and Northern Division have opted to stay at work.

Water Supply Department Supervisors in Sigatoka, Nadi, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Sigatoka, Levuka, Savusavu and Labasa have confirmed that workers have not gone on strike although some are union members.

Meanwhile, in Deuba, 80% of workers from the water department are picketing at Taunovo road depot as more workers are expected to join soon.

In Lautoka, all the project workers are on strike.
The Divisional Engineer Roads Western, Atunaisa Nayago has confirmed that out off 271 workers only 100 have walked off their job this morning.

He has confirmed that services are normal and they members of the public should not be worried.

In Labasa out of 150 employees only about only 25 of them are on strike.

According to Taveuni Depot Road Supervisor, Hameed Hussein some who are working are members of the union. 17 have walked out of their jobs while 23 workers including six members of the PEU are still working. In the Mechanical Department, 2 out of 7 members are on strike.
