A little naked flame could lead to a major fire disaster.

These are the words of National Fire Authority Chief Fire Officer Tupou Saubulinayau whose comment comes after NFA attended forty five grass fire incidents from June to August this year.

Saubulinayau said grass fire incidents have become a major concern for firefighters and they have also urged cane farmers to be cautious during this windy and dry weather conditions.

National Fire Authority attended to nineteen grass fire incidents in Western Division, sixteen incidents in the Northern Division and ten fire incidents in the Central Division.

NFA said cane farmers need to ensure that proper fire breaks are in place to control farm burns and monitor the weather condition.
