We are hoping that the Litter Promulgation will help people know the possible consequences if they intend to litter.
Director Environment Epeli Nasome said they hope this promulgation will change people's mindsets about littering.
However, Nasome adds this promulgation does not have to be fully implemented if people cared about the environment, and picked up litter for themselves.
Under the Litter Promulgation 2008, $200 is the fine you can get if you are found littering in a public place or littering from a vehicle, while a corporate body can be fined $1000 and if you are found throwing away dangerous litter or any litter that can hurt people in a public place, you can be fined $2000 while a corporate body can be fined $4000.
