The Land Transport Authority stresses that the Road user levy and Wheel tax are two separate taxes that vehicles owners have to pay although the concept of paying both taxes is based on the size of vehicle.
LTA Manager Central/Eastern Ratu Eroni Volavola said the Road user levy was introduced by the current government this year to finance the maintenance of our roads.
He said that people are thinking that the taxes are the same, however he stressed that the two taxes are for separate purposes.
This comes after concerns raised on the taxes at the National Transport Consultative forum held earlier this week.
