Pita Tamani may be an unknown athlete but to the students, parents and old scholars of Levuka Public School he is their hope for a gold medal at the Coca Cola games.

The 17 year old fifth former from Daku village in Moturiki is the defending intermediate boys javelin champion.

Last year he threw a distance of 58.42 metres to win the only gold for Levuka Public School.

This year he recorded a distance of 60.42 metres in the Ovalau zone.

Tamani said he is aiming to break Leslie Copeland of Marist Brothers High School record of 67.23 metres set in 2005.


32 athletes will represent Levuka Public School in the Coca Cola Games which will be held on the 25th and 26th of this month at the ANZ Stadium.

The students and teachers of Levuka Public today for the first time were part of the national torch relay along with Delana Methodist High school and Saint John’s college.
