Suva lawyer Graham Leung has questioned whether the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo made the decision on his own or made decision on the authority of others with regards to the Tribunal to investigate, Chief Justice, Daniel Fatiaki on allegations of corruption.

Leung was responding to questions by fellow lawyer, Raman Singh, regarding the legality of the Tribunal that Ratu Josefa proposed to investigate ousted Chief Justice Daniel Fatiaki and the power use by the interim regime in authorising the tribunal through the President's office, at yesterday's Fiji Law Convention on Denarau.

He said the whole purpose of the tribunal is tainted because the people of Fiji know the truth on what is going on in Fiji today.

The President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, had rejected the Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed - Khaiyum's tribunal names to investigate Fatiaki because the President wanted to ensure that the names submitted were impartial and totally independent.

Sayed Khaiyum has 60 days to submit a list of seven names to the President regarding this matter.
