The investigation has been done and his name has been cleared.
That is the comment of the Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum following the call by the SDL party for Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry to step aside as he is an embarrassment to the Interim administration.
After their Annual General Meeting last Friday, the SDL released 16 Resolutions, one of which said that they are concerned at the attempt by the interim administration to "whitewash" the whole tax evasion allegation leveled against Chaudhry.
The SDL added that since he is the holder of a public office, Chaudhry should be removed from his position.
However, Sayed-Khaiyum said the investigation has been completed and therefore the SDL should let the matter rest.
